Nantucket House

return to projects

On a large, bay front property bounded by a pond and creek, this vacation residence (in the spirit , if not the size of, McKim, Mead, White’s Low House) was erected on the site of an 18th century house (which was saved and moved to another location on the property). An existing greenhouse, sunken into the land, was retrofitted as a guest house. In a first for the time, a wind generator supplied power to the island grid during the 10 months the building was unoccupied.
Sadly, most photographs have been lost, and the 30 year old house was replaced by one many times larger in size.  And so it goes…………………..
