Our clients for this waterfront house (a former boathouse) wanted a new, formal entrance, a new, second floor suite and an almost complete renovation of the existing interior. The entry and gallery linking the public and private parts of the house are sheathed in carefully fitted (Inca-like) Stony Creek Granite, in recollection and celebration of the original quarry on the site. The screened porch is fully demountable to enable unobscured viewing of the Sound from the winter dining room. A boat-like fiberglass deck above the porch opens the second floor suite to views and sunning.
